A Great Week!!

Huge news this week - Mercy is eating again, and it’s VIA A BOTTLE!!! We had assumed that she’d need to prove that she could handle continuous nasogastric tube feeding before they moved on to bottle feeds, but thankfully she is now getting 3ml every 3 hours, sometimes by our hand! It's a great start even though it's a very small amount - I had planned to purchase a commemorative Lurie Children’s shot glass and fill it halfway to show how much she’s getting every 24 hours, but sadly they don’t sell them here.

This is an answer to so many prayers! Her gastrointestinal system seems to be working well post-surgery. Additionally, she no longer needs a nasal cannula or suction and is officially face-tube-free!! She’s more comfortable. She’s doing all the normal baby things: tooting, pooping, eating, yelling. She’s super hungry and ready for more.

Doctors haven’t updated their spring/summer return home predictions yet, but it’s hard not to be hopeful that this could bump up her timeline.
