God Bless the ISCU Nurses

Today, especially, Erica and I are thankful for the nurses in the Evanston ISCU. In addition to taking care of our fragile little baby girl, they take care of us. Answering questions, providing updates whenever we need to hear how Mercy’s doing, acting as grief counselors when we need one, they’re simply remarkable.

We’ve needed them today. Mercy is hurting this week and has the doctors stumped. They have no idea why her intestines aren’t passing the air. Today she had scary apneic episodes (where her heart rate and oxygen both drop). She was also lethargic most of the day. They’re running tests and the gastroenterologist has said that one of the tests itself has the potential to fix this unknown problem. We’re praying it does.
