Progress, almost

Mercy took a big step forward yesterday. She transitioned off the CPAP and onto a nasal cannula. We were encouraged. By forcing air into her lungs the CPAP also increases the amount of air in her stomach, potentially causing issues with her bowels. The cannula is also less irritating to her overall than the helmet and she seems much more comfortable with her nasogastric tube.

Here she is sans helmet just being her awesome self:

Sadly, she wasn’t able to maintain oxygenation levels through the night, and this morning she was placed back on a CPAP. She did have some great 'kangaroo care' time with Erica today:

We're hoping Mercy is able to maintain oxygen levels so she can shed the headgear soon! It's so great to be able to see her beautiful face.

Ways to pray:

That Mercy’s stomach and intestines stay healthy!!

That her lungs will be able to handle the load without needing the CPAP

That Erica’s headaches would go away

Praise for steps forward, and peace for us with the steps backward
