Ups and downs

Mercy had another blood transfusion yesterday to treat her anemia and seems a bit perkier today. One cool thing: I found out I can donate blood to have on standby for future use. It will take her some time to work through her current donor blood bag before she can use mine, however. She still only has about an ounce and a half of blood total in her body.

Mercy’s up to 770 grams which is about 1.7lbs. Praise God she’s gained weight. Right now it’s a balancing act: we want her to gain weight so she’s getting additional feedings, but we don’t want to stress her intestinal system and risk some nasty complications. She did have some emesis today.

She has a new ram cannula that has replaced the CPAP. It provides more pressure than a normal cannula but stresses her skin less. When Erica left today she had additional desat episodes. She may have to return to the CPAP soon. For now, I’m enjoying seeing her beautiful face.

- Mercy would gain weight!

- Continued intestinal health

- That her lungs would strengthen to support the cannula

- Strength for the long haul for me and Erica. It's a roller coaster
